Future and Current Students Housing Eligibility
Brigham Young University of Hawaii Residential Life offers several living options to assist students with their housing needs.

Single Student On-campus Housing: The residence halls or Hale (pronounced ha-lay) facilities are designed to maximize social interaction between students in a healthy, clean environment, which is conducive to high academic achievement. Separate Hales are designated for men and women. | Hale residents must be Full-time students (Fall or Winter 12 Credits; Spring 8 credits) with at least 1-face-to-face class. The following students are not eligible for on-campus housing: Online only (Pathway Included) On an off-island internship Pursuing post-bacc/academic training after graduation Married or divorced students may request an exception to live in single student on-campus housing. |
Married Student On-campus Housing: LIMITED apartments in BYUH Married Student Housing (Temple View Apartments) are available to married students and single student parents with dependent children under the age of 18. Newly admitted married students typically live off-campus for about 2 semesters before getting into TVA. | TVA Primary residents must be Full-time students (Fall or Winter 12 Credits; Spring 8 credits) with at least 1-face-to-face class and married or a single parent with dependent children under the age of 18. Spouses or secondary residents are not required to be students. Single parents must have legal custody of their child/children to be eligible for residence in TVA. Parents, brothers, sisters, and other relatives or guests of the tenant are not permitted to live with the family. BYUH Contract Student Off-campus Housing: BYU-Hawaii works with the community to provide accommodations for some of its single and married students. Therefore, the University has established a contract housing program for its single students to promote the desired environment off-campus. | Freshmen or first-year students are not eligible to live off-campus. (See Policy) All single BYU-Hawaii students who are twenty-four (24) years of age and younger, and who are eligible to live off-campus, are required to live in BYU-Hawaii Off-Campus Contract Housing. This requirement may be waived by the BYU-Hawaii Administration for the following students: Single students living with parents, grandparents, maternal/paternal aunt or uncle. Under an approved Family Exemption Single Parents with children Certain Extenuating conditions, as determined by the BYUH Off-Campus Housing office Tenants must be BYU-Hawaii students or accepted as a student for the next semester or term. Non-students cannot participate in BYU-Hawaii contract housing. Online and post-bacc/AT students are eligible to live off-campus. |
Students over the age of 24 are eligible to live in non-contracted housing off-campus and are required to provide an electronic copy of their housing contract.
