Married On-Campus Housing Information (TVA)

General Info

Due to the high prices of rent in Hawaii and the limited number of apartments available, TVA is in high demand. Because there are a large number of students interested in living in TVA, students may apply for TVA up to a year in advance.

Students do not have to be married yet to apply to TVA. We advise that students apply at least 2 semesters ahead of the desired check-in semester to have a higher chance of being invited to TVA.

How to Apply

Students admitted to the university may apply to TVA at any time through the Housing Portal. There is a $50 non-refundable application fee due at the time of application. New incoming married students should apply, then make arrangements to live off-campus before arriving.

Applying for TVA:

  1. Sign in to the Housing Portal
  2. Select Secure Housing
  3. Select TVA
  4. Select Waitlist Application
  5. Complete form and pay fee

Invitees will begin receiving notification of a pending TVA assignment 30 days before the start of the semester. Please ensure that you are meeting all of the requirements to be eligible to remain a priority on our waiting list.

MAKE SURE YOUR APPLICATION IS COMPLETE!

There are two parts to the TVA Application: the $50 non-refundable application fee and the form. Both must be complete for your application to be complete. Your Application Complete Date is determined by when you complete both the form and payment. Your application will be sorted by that date along with the waitlist priorities.

Once you apply for TVA, you are responsible for reviewing your application and ensuring it is complete. Once your application is complete, you are in our system. You are not on the waitlist. There is no waitlist until the deadline for that desired check-in semester has passed. See the 'Waitlist' section for more information.

Residential Life will communicate with applicants through their BYU-Hawaii email, so checking your email regularly is extremely important.

Register for Classes

To be considered eligible for your desired semester, you must be registered as a Full-Time Student for that semester. You will not be considered and eligible for the waitlist until you are registered.

Keep your application up to date

It is your responsibility to keep your application up to date. It is important that all the information you submit on your application is accurate. Inaccurate or falsified information will result in the denial of your application and postpone your ability to enter TVA. You can update your application information by clicking the 'Update Application' link on the TVA Applicant landing page. You can review your application by selecting the 'View Application' link on the TVA Applicant landing page.

Security Deposit

If you are invited to TVA, a $300 Security deposit will be due at the time of invitation. The security deposit must be paid by credit card online during the application process. Please save up for this expense before you are invited.
