Single Student Freshman and Transfer Housing Policy

Toggle ItemFreshman and First-Year StudentsDue to recent circumstances impacting housing availability, temporary measures have been taken to increase student’s ability to access single student housing. The following policy has been updated accordingly and is subject to change.
Single students who are admitted as freshmen or ‘first-year' students are required to live on campus for their first semester and sequentially the remainder of the academic year in ‘first-year' style housing.
Implementation:
‘First-year' students: Entering freshmen who have completed college or university credits before graduating from high school are considered ‘first-year' students and are required to live on campus for their first semester and sequentially the remainder of the academic year in first-year style housing.First Semester at BYUH On-Campus Housing Requirement Fall Fall, Winter Break, Winter, Spring Winter Winter, Spring Spring Spring
*** This policy only pertains to single students under the age of 25, without dependents. -
Toggle ItemTransfer and Returning StudentsIf you are a single student admitted with credits completed after high school graduation at a different school, you are considered a transfer student. If you have attended BYUH before, left for two or more semesters, and had to re-apply to BYUH you are a returning student. Students on LOA or internship ARE NOT considered returning students.
Transfer Students: Students admitted with college or university credits completed after high school graduation are considered transfer students and are not required to live in on-campus housing.
Returning Students: Students that have attended BYUH before, then left for one or more semesters, are returning students and are not required to live in on-campus housing.
Students over the age of 25 are not required to live in on-campus housing.
Married students or students with dependents are not required to live in on-campus housing
