Apply for Single On-Campus Housing
Step 1 - Determine Your Student Type
There are 3 types of single students when it comes to housing. Read carefully because the application process is different for each group.
Work-Study Students (IWORK or Hukilau) will automatically get an email to reserve a room. If you have not yet received an email, please apply to the waitlist on Step 3.
New Non-Work Study Students are students not on a work-study program and have not lived on-campus before. These students should proceed with the steps below. Please apply as soon as possible as on-campus housing is limited.
Returning Students (those who have lived in on-campus housing before and have taken a leave of absence, served a mission, or gone on an internship), will be directed to sign up for the waitlist as seen in Step 3.

Step 3 - Reserve Your Room Or Apply For The Waitlist In The Housing Portal
There is a $50 non-refundable fee to apply that will be charged to your student account within 7 days. Click here for payment instructions.
- Log on to the Housing Portal
- Select 'Secure Housing'
- Select 'Hales'
- Proceed with the process you see available.
If you have successfully reserved a room, you will receive a confirmation email. Make sure to update your personal profile, select a meal plan, complete a roommate matching survey, and sign your hale contract.
Remember!
If you have applied to the waitlist, by the time you receive an invitation, you must be registered as a full-time student (with at least one face-to-face credit) for the application semester or your waitlist position will be forfeited. Waitlisted classes do not count toward the credit total. Make sure you have no holds that would keep you from registering for classes. Click here for more information on the waitlist.
If you are offered a spot in on-campus housing, your offered room type will be first based on your eligibility, then on availability. Because housing is so limited, your ideal room and room type may not be available.
