Air Conditioning Procedure in Married Student Housing (TVA)

Air conditioning is an optional amenity available to residents of Temple View Apartments (TVA). A/C use must be approved and registered with Housing Operations.

Who is Eligible

  • Eligible: Temple View Apartments (TVA) residents 
  • Not Eligible: Hale residents (A/C units are not permitted) 

Getting Approval

 Before using or installing an A/C unit, residents must:

  • Submit an A/C Request Form 
  • Sign Air Conditioning Use Addendum 
  • Complete an inspection with Housing Operations 
  • Receive official approval before use 

Unregistered or unapproved A/C units are not allowed.

A/C Request Form

A/C Unit Guidelines

  • One portable, floor-based A/C unit per apartment 
  • Window units are not permitted 
  • Maximum size: 10,000 BTU 
  • Must be plugged directly into a wall outlet 
  • Proper venting kits are required 
  • Residents are responsible for installation, maintenance, and removal 
  • Any damage caused by the A/C unit is the resident’s responsibility 

Monthly Fee & Power Use

  • A monthly A/C fee of $200 per month applies (proration for start and end months)
  • Charges begin after installation and continue until the unit is removed and verified 
  • Electrical usage is monitored, excessive use may result in loss of A/C privileges or additional charges 

Canceling A/C Use

  • Submit an A/C Cancellation Request 
  • Schedule a removal inspection with Housing Operations 
  • Fees continue until removal is confirmed 
  • Reinstalling later requires a new application and approval 

Policy Compliance

  • Using an unapproved or non-compliant A/C unit may result in: 
    • $400 charge 
    • Required removal of the unit or register within 24 hours
    • Additional charges apply for repeat violations 
    • Possible termination of the housing agreement

Residents assume full responsibility for any damage, injury, or issues related to their A/C unit.
