Furnishings
Hale spaces are furnished with a twin-size bed, a wardrobe, and a desk. Residents may bring personal decorative items; however, space is limited. (See suggested packing list)
BYU–Hawaii furnishings may not be removed, and residents must comply with fire safety guidelines requiring clear passageways and exits.
*Secondary rooms are located throughout the Hales, and the number of residents assigned to each room varies based on need and availability. These rooms are considered secondary housing and do not have the same furnishings, layout, or storage as permanent spaces. All residents have access to a bathroom facility. Residents in secondary on-campus housing do not have access to a kitchen and are required to have a meal plan. Students should contact Food Services for meal plan requirements.
Handbook
It is important that every resident familiarize themselves with the Housing handbook.
Directions to campus
Students are responsible for arranging their own transportation to campus. BYU–Hawaii is located on the North Shore of Oahu at 55-220 Kulanui Street, Laie, HI 96762.
Check-In Process
Students must bring a valid photo ID to complete the check-in process.
Check in Location and Hours
- Office Hours: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM, students check in at the Hale 5 Office. (Closed Weekends and Holidays).
- After Hours: Check in at the BYU–Hawaii Security Office.
Room Condition Reports
Room Condition Reports (RCRs) document the condition of the room and furnishings at move-in and protect both the student and the University.
Residents will have access to the report through the Housing Portal within 1 business day of checking in. They must complete the report within 48 hours.
The same report is used by staff at move-out to assess any new damage or missing items. Careful completion of the report helps prevent unnecessary charges and keeps housing spaces well-maintained for future residents.
